Yes I realize that Connor Mitch is only in HS and we haven't seen him against SEC competition yet, but let's be real: dude is a monster talent.
Spurrier doesn't promise a kid to stay 4 or 5 more years in order to land him if he's not dealing with a gunslinger who can get him to the promised land. Mitch is the QB that we've been waiting for since SOS got here, really since ever. He's shattering the record books in NC, but more importantly he's the type of QB who thrives in Spurrier's offense. He's a pocket passer with a good head on his shoulders who can spread the ball around the field.
Shaw, on the other hand, is a good QB who has done great things for us. However, he just doesn't have that 4th gear in terms of ability to get us over the hump. He's solid, but not great, and he's never going to be the passer we need to pick apart defenses so they'll unstack the box and get off our RB's nuts.
Certain QB's are made to flourish under SOS and some are not. Garcia had the talent and arm, but lacked the discipline and cerebral aspect crucial to playing for SOS. Shaw has the work ethic and mentality, but lacks the passing ability to make his offense take off.
