Beamer hoping to reveal pieces of staff soon

With Shane Beamer now full-time in Columbia, the Gamecocks’ new head coach is shifting things into overdrive trying to finalize his staff and get things in place moving forward.

While he has reiterated he wants to take his time with the staff, he mentioned in an interview with Teddy Heffner on Fox Radio 1400 he might have a few staff positions coming down the pipeline. (VIEW ARTICLE)

In regards to members of the current staff that CSB feels good about, I also have thoughts on a couple that I would be interested in returning.  Hope to see confirmation of my inklings shortly, and if so, I like his approach.

Who would you keep if it was up to you?

It all depends upon who else external that might be out there whom CSB has on the ABC list, but I would think, Connor and Rod aside, Rocker and Kitchings would warrant looks.  Hate to say it, but from a local high school familiarity standpoint, Bentley would have to be discussed.

Others I am sure know more about the coaching talent than I, to be fair, so I am open to critiques.

Fair enough. Agree on Kitchings. Rocker has been around the league forever but I wonder if we couldn’t do better? We will see!

I think you need the right blend of young and experienced.  You want guys that can say they have put players in the NFL, but also want the excitement of a fresh new look.  Kitchings makes aLot of sense to me.  I think Bobo in the right position to lend experience to a first time head coach and help Beamer navigate things.  Not sure what roll that may be.  Could be on field or analyst type spot.

With the success that Bentley had at the High School level, really never understood why he never has been chosen to call plays, I mean some of his Burns teams were ranked nationally, Champ brought him so he could get his son here.  But I  guess it was just for the contacts that he had with the high school coaches.

"Byrnes".

Bentley is a good recruiter and should have good contacts in SC HS.  Not sure if he's good at coaching at the college level but he should warrant a look at some level on the staff.  Unless there's an immediate upgrade that CSB has over him.

Seems waiting until after the bowl game for any announcement is appropriate.

If Beamer truly has his staff in place already, they need this dude at the CIA.  He knows how to keep a lid on things.

Waiting until after the bowl game to announce it all seems like the right thing to do.  I'm assuming Coach Beamer is driving that decision.  if so, kudos to him.

Has Bentley's position ever met or exceeded expectations? knowing people is a great skill for an analyst, maybe.

Bentley has been moved around so much that it is hard to say whether he has met expectations as far as player development. But he has been a good recruiter (in part due to knowing people) and there is a thought that he has been able to add to the offensive schemes and game plans. How much of that is true is just speculation.
I thought he was rb and te coach. Was he anything else?

As Longhaul mentioned above, a mix of youth and experienced would be ideal for the staff.  I would season those remarks with: a mix of grizzled SEC vets combined with youthful scheme experimentation and evolution.  Excited to see who else follows CSB here.
