Shane Beamer on Wednesday said he wished South Carolina quarterback Jason Brown wasn’t leaving the program, but Brown is looking for a fresh start as he announced he would head into the transfer portal earlier in the day. Beamer said he and Brown met multiple times to weigh his options, including Wednesday morning,

but Brown ultimately decided he needed to move on. “He came in before we started meetings (today), and he just felt like a fresh start would be what was best for him,” Beamer said in a Wednesday press conference. “I wish him well.

I told Jason I don’t want him going anywhere. I want Jason to stay here, compete and continue to write his story at the University of South Carolina because it’s a fantastic story that he’s already started to write in the month of November.”

Hey, Brown would never see the playing field again at South  Carolina after this year, he is just not an SEC QB he had some good moments but overall with what is coming in he can't beat that guy out  I look for more to transfer because of them bringing him Rattler will be the guy for at least next year. 

That gives the other QB'S time to learn, and figure things out I really don't see Doty Playing QB  now.

Hard to say. If Rattler lights it up, he will probably decalre for the draft after one season. Leaving 2 years for Doty (or whatever other QB).

If Rattler is not that great, other QB's will be able to compete for playing time.

You make a great point which makes Brown's decision to leave more irrational.

He could continue to improve and compete with Rattler enough to start if Rattler struggles, which he might do without the higher quality of teammates he had around him at OU.

I'm thankful for having him this season.  He helped us beat Florida and Auburn.  I'm sure his playing time next year would be minimal with Rattler coming in.  Wish him the best wherever he lands!  I also wouldn't be surprised if Doty moves on, the Coastal suggestion would make sense if he chose to leave.  Hopefully he hangs around though.

Hope Doty stays but also like to see him play slot again too.  It will all depend on how well Rattler does next season, as well as the typical injuries.

I don’t personally see Doty leaving, he will continue to work on improvements.  I’ve seen stranger things happened but Doty is SC through and through.
