Beamers' Weekly Presser With Video & Quotes

Sept. 21, 2021

Saturday’s game will be the 33rd meeting all-time between USC and UK with the Gamecocks holding an 18-13-1 l lead in the series. Lately, Kentucky has dominated the series of late, having won six of the last seven, including a 41-18 victory in Lexington last season. The kickoff is set for 7 pm from Williams-Brice Stadium on ESPN2.

Beamer speaks to Gamecock Nation: “Gamecock Nation, listen to me. We need you there early. We need an environment Saturday night that will be a true home-field advantage for us.” He went on to discuss how big of an impact Georgia’s crowd had on his team, especially disrupting communication when the Gamecocks' had the football.

Beamer: LB Darryle Ware was placed on scholarship this morning.

Beamer losing Sherrod Greene to injury: "That's a huge loss.  I'm not going to sugarcoat it."

Beamer:  assuming everything is good with Luke, Doty will be the starting QB on Saturday versus Kentucky.

Beamer on celebration/taunting penalties:  "The calls we got for taunting the past couple of weeks, we deserved. I don't make the rules, the referees don't make the rules. They are being told what to enforce & that's a point of emphasis.  We want to celebrate with our teammates."

Beamer:  "Will (UK QB Levis) is built more like an H-back.  They are a physical offense that wants to run the football, but has the ability to throw the ball over your head."

Beamer:  "I really feel really, really good (about how his team has responded to the UGA loss).  It was a quiet bus ride back from Athens.  Sunday we came in here and were brutally honest with the guys.  It was honestly one of the best Tuesday practices that we've had."

Beamer on OL:  "We got to coach better.  Saturday night was not good in a lot of ways.  That place was rocking on Saturday night like we need our place rocking on Saturday night.  We had a lot of miscommunication.  It all starts with us as coaches."

Beamer:  "Gamecock nation, listen to me.  We need you there early.  We need an environment Saturday night that will be a true home-field advantage for us."

Beamer on Kentucky:  "We faced a big defensive tackle last week in Georgia and we'll face another one in McCall."

Beamer on Kentucky:  "Offensively, they are explosive.  I think they are second in the country in explosive pass plays.  There's no throw on the field that this quarterback can't make."

Beamer:  "Xavier Legette is questionable for this week.  He was in a traffic incident last week and has some scrapes.  Nothing major."

Beamer:  "Injury-wise, we're in really good shape.  To come out and do what he (Luke Doty) did, he's a warrior.  Zeb, we expect him to be ready to go on Saturday.  He didn't throw today.  He's still got stitches from where he got stepped on."

Beamer:  "Georgia's got really good players, so do we.  Kentucky's got really good players, so do we.  It's called the SEC.  It's big-boy football."

We need the home crowd advantage Saturday night!  If we can force them into errors with the crowd noise, maybe a pick, false starts, etc, that would be awesome.
