Bela Karolyi, gymnastics coach who mentored Nadia and Mary Lou, dies at 82

He and his wife are almost certainly responsible for turning the US women's program into the powerhouse that it is today. I still remember him carrying Kerri Strug off the floor after she completed her vault on a bum ankle to secure the team gold in the Atlanta Olympics. RIP.
