Bobby Bentley to visit RB Master Teague III; attendees for next SpursUp event

April 24, 2017

Headed toward the Music City

South Carolina running backs coach Bobby Bentley is expected to stop by Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on Monday to see 3-star running back Master Teague III.

Bentley serves as the Gamecocks’ area recruiter around Nashville and there are plenty of notable 2018 prospects for him to see, particularly in Murfreesboro. Among them is 3-star offensive tackle commitment Maxwell Iyama, who attends Siegel High School.

Other South Carolina targets in Murfreesboro include:

2018 4-star DT D’Andre Litaker (Murfreesboro-Riverdale)

2019 4-star DE Joseph Anderson (Murfreesboro-Siegel)

2019 4-star WR Trey Knox (Murfreesboro-Blackman)

Right up the road in Brentwood, Tenn., which is a little closer to Nashville, is 3-star athlete Gavin Schoenwald, who’s being pursued by the Gamecocks as a tight end.

Next weekend

Reports are circling that former Georgia/Louisville cornerback Shaq Wiggins will visit South Carolina this upcoming weekend. The graduate transfer prospect visited Tennessee this past weekend. Mississippi State is in the mix, too.

If Wiggins follows through with the trip, he’ll be among several notable recruits.

South Carolina will host another SpursUp recruiting event on Saturday, and attendees include 2018 S RJ Roderick (Summerville, S.C.), 2018 TE Tommy Tremble (Johns Creek, Ga.) and 2019 CB Jammie Robinson (Cordele, Ga.).

Four-star wide receiver Josh Vann (Tucker, Ga.) will not visit because he has a sectionals track meet.

Jatavious Harris to Tennessee

Three-star WR Jatavious Harris announced on Sunday that he was committed to Tennessee. On Saturday, he was in Knoxville for the Vols’ spring game.

Even though he’s now off the board for South Carolina, there are several comparable targets still available. From this perspective, there are better options, including Sam Pinckney (Greenwood, S.C.) and Dennis Smith (Gaffney, S.C.).

South Carolina continues to battle Clemson and Duke for Smith. Pinckney is also being pursued by Florida State and LSU.

Since there are no senior wide receivers on the roster, South Carolina doesn’t exactly have a lot of room for more takes with 3-star Darius Rush on board as the first commitment in 2018. Counting Rush, the Gamecocks have 11 wide receivers scheduled to account for scholarships in 2018.

2 from Bama

Over the weekend, Alabama offered 2 of the top defenders from the state of South Carolina.

Four-star outside linebacker Channing Tindall, a 2018 prospect from Spring Valley High School in Columbia, was offered by the Tide on Friday night. While visiting for A-Day on Saturday, 2019 cornerback Tyron Hopper (Gaffney) landed his.

Tindall visited Georgia on Saturday for the Dawgs’ spring game.
