Boom's Tuesday news conference highlights
Oct. 22, 2019
Will Muschamp: RB Rico Dowdle has a sprained knee. No surgery required but is probably out this week. AJ Turner has a hamstring injury and will not know his availability until Wednesday.
Will Muschamp: Haven't heard from SEC office since Sunday. Graded our film and watch some of Tennessee-Alabama and once we started meeting, we had to move on to this week's game. Ray Tanner is very upset and is representing us well and is working through that on our behalf.
Will Muschamp with more on league office: Asked if he expects to hear from SEC, "I would hope so."
Will Muschamp: You can see the improvement of this Tennessee team from the beginning of the season. Offensive line did a great job against Alabama and there are very talented at the wide receiver/tight end position.
Will Muschamp: DJ Wonnum (nominated for comeback player of year) is as first-class a person as you would hope to meet. Family is great and there aren't enough adjectives to describe how good a person he is. Great football player and better person.
Will Muschamp: on passing game: It's not all on Ryan Hilinski, but he'd tell you he has to be more accurate. We need more turns and reps. If they crowd the box, we have to hit some deep shots. We have the capabilities and we can change the complexion of games with those.
Will Muschamp: Tennessee doesn't change much of what they do with the rotating quarterbacks, at least with Guarantano and Maurer. (Preparing for multiple QB's as Vols starter is unsettled due to Maurer concussion. Freshman Shrout also in mix)
Will Muschamp: recalling first recruiting trip to meet OT Sadarius Hutcherson: He was in the back of high school chasing chickens about a mile and a half up the road. Looked like a tight end but he worked extremely hard in the weight room
