Bowl game for South Carolina?

don't you have to have won some football games to get into a bowl? I'm really confused. Would love to see more SC football especially with a new coach, so I don't mean to sound negative. I am just confused how we would go to a bowl with maybe 3 wins.

I think they removed the minimum wins requirement this year due to Covid. That being said. I don't really see the point.

Except if we can get a new coach that can start immediately. It would give the team valuable practice time with the new coach. But if the new coach can't start until Jan, then it's pointless.

And hope this doesn't influence the coaching hires....we should hire the best guy, regardless of timing, bowl game, and recruiting.

College Football News has the same game, but different opponent.

If it would give our new coach practice time with the team this year I'm all for it.

Realistically the way this year has been going playing the game isn't a foregone conclusion as it could very well wind up being cancelled.

Sucks to look at it that way however the extra days would be worth it I would think.

That would be pretty pathetic to see us in a bowl game IMO.  2 to 3 wins?  I get we may have a new coach and staff, but the extra practice time has never helped us.  I mean, we have gone to plenty of bowl games and I never saw an uptick in performance from 2 weeks of extra practice.  You either have talent or you don't.  Extra practice does not make players better IMO.

Who would go?

I'm with those would say do it if we have a new coach. If we still have an interim, then no.

We need the money, we need the practice time, we will need all of it. I say hell yes!

exactly what I thought as well...practice time could be invaluable

Do we know what bowl game practice and participation is going to look like this year?

Are the teams going to relocate to the bowl location like normal years or are they going to stay home to prepare and fly in for the game?

In the current environment I would think that the bowl game lead up group activities, etc. would be a hard sell for germ compliance protocols.

Practicing at home, flying in for the game, and then collecting a check might be the way it all goes down this year but I could be wrong.

Two more weeks for Doty to throw to the first teamers would be a good thing, especially if under the eyes of a brand new set of coaches?

Agreed. This is important if the coach is in place and an exhibition if not

Let's face the realities of a down revenue year.

There is going to be considerable pressure from NCAA, SEC, BOD, etc. to participate and cash in on whatever money is available.

I would think that declining an invitation would only be possible due to lack of eligible players lost to injury, opt out, or germ protocols.

"We don't want to get our ass kicked" isn't going to be on the table.

IIRC we (the SEC) are contractually obligated to fill X number of Bowl slots.

"Getting our ass kicked" certainly hasn't been a deterrent so far.
