Bryce Thompson breaks the silence
February 07, 2018
Four-star athlete Bryce Thompson, who committed to the 2018 South Carolina recruiting class in December, sent out a couple of notable tweets on Tuesday night.
But there are still questions about his status on the eve of National Signing Day.
Let’s start with the news from Monday, when Thompson’s coach at Dutch Fork High School (Irmo, S.C.) said he would not sign with the Gamecocks on Wednesday. It was presumed that Thompson was still working to qualify at South Carolina.
On Tuesday afternoon, SEC Country reported that if Thompson opted to make a junior college stop before enrolling, it would likely be in the state of Mississippi.
That night, Reggie Anderson of WLTX tweeted that Thompson “could end the night” with offers from Tennessee and Oklahoma.
Thompson then quoted Anderson’s above tweet with two responses.
“False info.”
“I am committed to the University of South Carolina. If anything changes, I will let y’all know. Until then, stop putting false info out please.”
All that being said, Thompson didn’t provide any more clarity to what he’ll do on Wednesday. The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect has also considered Marshall as a fall-back option, if unable to qualify at South Carolina.
Thompson is ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 12 athlete in the Class of 2018.
