Bryson Allen-Williams, Dante Sawyer get assist on Jamyest Williams’ commitment
Feb. 02, 2017
When all was said and done Wednesday, a relationship between Jamyest Williams and South Carolina defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson was key in keeping the talented Grayson (Ga.) cornerback committed to the Gamecocks.
But it wasn’t all about Robinson on the recruiting trail helping to bring the 5-foot-9, 174-pound defensive back to Columbia. Current players Bryson Allen-Williams and Dante Sawyer also played a role in keeping Williams committed to the Gamecocks – at least that’s who USC wide receiver Terry Googer credited with chipping in on the team effort to keep Williams as a future South Carolina defensive back
Allen-Williams and Sawyer, like Williams, are Georgia natives and apparently formed a good bond with the 2017 defensive back, who signed with South Carolina on Wednesday. Williams was hosted by Allen-Williams on his official visit over the weekend and reportedly calls the USC linebacker “Big Brother Bryson.”
“Our guys did a fantastic job in the recruiting process,” coach Will Muschamp said after the Gamecocks signed 24 players Wednesday. “Part of being a part of a really good program is understanding they’ve really got to help us on recruiting weekends whether it’s an unofficial situation or an official situation in hosting these guys and building those relationships
