Linebacker Cedrick Cooper, a redshirt freshman, had to be carted off of the field early during the two-hour practice on Wednesday. He went down with a knee injury but the severity is not known at this point.
“He twisted his knee in inside (drills),” Ward said. “We’ll have to do an MRI and find out what’s wrong. Hopefully he’s just strained his knee ligaments.”
The MRI could come back as a sprain and Ward didn’t want to jump to conclusions. If it is a torn ligament that requires surgery, Cooper would likely miss the 2013 season.
