Carolina calls Beamer: Here are some quotes from Thursday night / 0910912021

The big question surrounds the health of running back Kevin Harris and quarterback Luke Doty. And fans received good news on Harris, as Beamer declared him “full-go” for Saturday’s contest against the Pirates. We’ll play 4 running backs (against ECU)”, Beamer added.

And Now turning are attention to Doty, Beamer mentioned that the sophomore has “been fine all week” despite being “a little bit sore” in preparation for the game. Beamer noted that Doty is just about there for Saturday, so all signs appear to be pointing toward a start unless there is a major setback before then.

  • Beamer on Kevin Harris: He's full go. play full game based on rotation. Luke Doty: Biggest thing feeling 100 percent do what he needs to do if needed. Matter of him being well enough to feel comfortable to put him in the game..
  • Beamer says OL Hank Manos will be back and available against East Carolina. Manos missed last week's game with injury
  • Beamer said Luke Doty has been out at practice and was "a little bit sore." Added he's been running around in pads and cleats, but reiterated he wants Doty fully healthy before he goes out there.
  • Shane Beamer: "Kevin Harris is full-go. He's had a great week of practice. He's not on a rep count or a pitch count or anything like that."
  • Shane Beamer asked about how things will get divided out at running back:
  • "You'll see all three of those guys that played last week and you'll see Kevin Harris as well. We'll play four running backs."

Many years ago in a softball game I had a big guy slide into my ankle on a tag at home plate during a softball because I was stupid and on the baseline.  Didn't break anything, but it was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life.  I was wearing cleats and it did a number on the arch tissue on the bottom of my left foot because my foot couldn't slide out of the way from the impact.

I was on crutches for two months and had to ease back into jogging and that was nowhere near the load a football player might put (or have put) on their foot in a game.  There's no need to risk losing Doty for most of the season if he's not absolutely past his injury.
