Catcher Chris Cullen (Cumming, Ga./West Forsyth) became the 12th commitment for the Gamecocks in the 2015 baseball recruiting class on Monday night picking USC over finalists Georgia and Vanderbilt. Cullen had a boatload of SEC and ACC offers and is ranked as the No. 66 player in the country by Perfect Game.

Cullen visited campus over the weekend to meet with the South Carolina staff but, more importantly, he wanted to get a closer look at what it would be like to be a current player. He spoke in depth with members of the current team, toured the dorm rooms and wanted to ask questions about what it is like to be a Gamecock baseball player.

“I wanted to talk to the players more than the previous visit,” Cullen said. “The players enjoy everything about South Carolina. They have fun on the field and always have fun at practice. They enjoy going to school there and the campus. That pushed me over the edge and helped me to see I’ll have a great time there in the future.”

The 6-foot-5, 195-pounder liked what he heard from the current players and that, coupled with the facilities and coaching staff, made South Carolina the right fit for him.
