With things changing I thought it was appropriate to start a new thread to keep up.  What do the Panther fans here think about Rhule as head coach?  I admit I know absolutely nothing about the guy, other than his coaching experience and record.  Never watched Temple or Baylor play while he was the coach.  Seems Tepper really wanted him and locked him down once he made the decision that is who he wanted.

I like the hire. Gonna be interesting to see what he does with the offense, and at QB. We might see something more like SF, the Chiefs, or NOLA are running.

This is a huge blow to the defense and as a fan.  I hope he will come back and coach for the Panthers at some point.  Dude's football IQ is sky high.

Def yes on the IQ. Would make a great coach at any level. Think he had 3 straight seasons with concussions, other injuries, and had def lost a step this year.

It was hard for me to tell if how much of a step he lost and how much of it was them trying to switch to that 3-4 defense, which I really think was a failure especially after Kawann Short went down.  Good for him to recognize he is not able to play at a level that is satisfactory to him and making this decision to preserve his mind and body for the future.  He probably also did not want to go through what I see is a total rebuild for this team.

Reports are the Joe Brady from LSU heading to the Panthers.  Maybe Tepper is going to pull of some kind of crazy trade and get Burrows lol.

Panthers keeping Chase Blackburn at ST coach. I like this move and was hoping somehow we kept him.

Pharaoh Cooper will give this team a much needed kick returner, that they have needed for a long time.  I can also see them doing some creative stuff on offense to get him into space and let him do his thing.

Pronounced in the SOS way with a southern drawl. ‘Fay-ro’

Traded Kyle Allen to the Redskins.  What does it say about Cam that Rivera has no interest in trying to get him to Washington.  Is it the on-field drama that follows him, the fact that they don't know/believe he will be healthy, or that he simply has games where he cannot hit the broad side of a barn when the pressure is on in big games?  I can almost tell you how Cam will play after two series.  If things are not going well, they never seem to get better.  If they start out well, he plays well.  Something about his Psyche just does not equate to the big winners at quarterback.  I hoped as he matured he would be able to put a bad start behind him and rally in games, but it just never seemed to happen.

Interesting article.  Note the part about the dead money on the Panthers salary cap.  Marty Hurney 2.0 did the same thing his first go around.  We were in a terrible cap situation when they brought in Gettleman and I was not a fan of bringing Hurney back for this reason.  I don't think Tepper is the kind of guy to put up with this for very long.

The Panthers have an astonishing $48 million in dead money counting against their 2020 cap. Kuechly’s retirement caught Carolina by surprise, but the other $36 million in dead money is a result of mismanagement.

Charlton signs a 3-year deal with the Panthers.  I always thought he was a solid kicker for us.  Looks like he is now the starter as Palardy is out.  Rhule was very complimentary of Charleton's abilities.

Charlotte = more money than brains just like Washington.

Super Bowl appearances and wins are what bring the most fan interest and the Panthers just haven't been able to make it happen yet.

I hate the Panthers and Falcons because they are two of the worst teams in the NFL and keep me from watching good teams play because they are the local TV market teams.

Today's loss is just the latest example of how much of a succubus the Panthers are.

Offense did not look bad, little out of sync, but that is to be expected.   I like how quickly Bridgewater gets rid of the ball unlike his predecessor.  The defense has a long way to do, but I also expected that with losing so many key players including the man in the middle last year.  Pretty disappointed that they never really pressured the quarterback and I was not impressed with Whitehead.  He will either need to get dramatically better or get off the field.  Also Rhule deserves some criticism for not giving the ball to his best player on that last 4th down that ended the game for the Panthers.
