Well, most of us begged for a playoff and now we have one. However, I believe the current CFP has ruined college football. While the BCS wasn't perfect , in hindsight; it may have been better. The CFP has made the bowls (of which there are too many) even less relevant.  Also, we now have the op-out. Players looking toward the NFL have come to realize that if your team is not in the CFP, why risk injury by playing in a meaningless game. Another issue is if you're not in a Power Five conference you can forget about playing for the cut glass football. Maybe going to eight teams that include the Power Five conference winners plus the three top Group of Five conference champions will help make it more interesting. Otherwise, we'll be watching Alabama play Clemson every year with an LSU sneaking in every once and awhile.

I've not watched but 5 minutes of the bowl season this year. I saw a little of Army yesterday and a few minutes of Liberty v. Coastal.

I don't think the two playoff games will be good. Bama will roll and Clemson will too. Setting up yet another NC game between these two. Honestly not sure if I will watch either.

I just read an interesting article about the CFP. The writer suggested going to eight teams really won't solve the problem. He thinks the best way to bring back some parity, level the playing field and make the playoffs more interesting  would be to drop the number of scholarships from 85 to 75.  It was 95  several years ago and they changed  it  to 85.  I don't know if the NCAA would ever do this because the big schools would raise holy hell. However, It's an intriguing idea.  If people quit watching and the TV revenues suffer, maybe they might consider it.

That makes sense for those of us old enough to remember the days when the NFC dominated the AFC before the advent of salary caps.
