I have ignored NASCAR enough the last two years that I didn't know the track had been reconfigured to a road course until watching yesterday's race.

I must say that I like the new format of yesterday's race.  It was raining up the to start of the race, but the new rules allow the crews the choice of running rain tires if they so desire.  They are also given the same choice if rain happens towards the end of the race rather than red flag the race.  It's more like the Petite LeMans road-racing series in that respect.

They still run on the high-banked turns, but the speeds are much slower than a normal race so the rain tires work on the high-banked turns as well.

It took me a while to get the new track configuration in my head, but I watched the entire race from start to finish.

Nobody is going to beat Chase Elliott on a road course if he has something even close to the best car on the track.  Elliott also tied Jeff Gordon's record of 4 road course wins in a row yesterday.
