Chris Lammons lands All-Bowl mention from USA Today

January 11, 2018

Following a stellar performance during the South Carolina football team’s 26-19 Outback Bowl win over Michigan, senior safety Chris Lammons was recognized as one of the top postseason performers.

On Thursday, Lammons was named to USA Today’s All-Bowl team.

Paul Myerberg wrote: “Lammons led the Gamecocks with 3 passes defended as part of a secondary that held Michigan to 21 completions in 45 attempts for 203 yards.”

Sophomore linebacker T.J. Brunson, who had 13 tackles against the Wolverines, landed on ESPN’s All-Bowl team on Wednesday.

Lammons finished his senior season with 79 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 7 pass breakups. For his career, he appeared in 44 games, 37 of which were starts. As a junior, he had 3 interceptions.

During his career with the Gamecocks, Lammons played several positions in the secondary, including cornerback, nickel back and safety, where he played primarily in 2017. He also returned punts during his junior and senior seasons.

That versatility could payoff big-time as Lammons now pursues a career in the NFL.
