Class 2020 kicker Mitch Jeter commits to Gamecocks

For the 2020 class, kicker Mitch Jeter pledging to the Gamecocks on Saturday just a few days after receiving an offer.
Gamecock coach Will Muschamp tweeted his customary “#SpursUp!” announcing a commitment on Saturday. Jeter is expected to make a social media announcement about his commitment sometime Saturday. He previously told Phil Kornblut on SportsTalkSC that he was planning to take an unofficial visit to South Carolina with his family this weekend.
Jeter will come in and likely wait a year behind veteran Parker White for the 2020 season, but with White’s departure after that, the Salisbury, North Carolina, native would compete for the starting job in 2021. This season, Jeter displayed a strong leg with a long field goal of 57 yards, and all of his deep kickoffs went for touchbacks. He was 8-10 on his field goal attempts.
Kohl’s Kicking rates Jeter as a five-star prospect and the No. 24 kicker in his class. The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder joins punter Kai Kroeger in the 2020 class. It’s the first time the Gamecocks have had a punter and kicker committed in the same class since at least 1999, the start of the recruiting service era.
