Class of 2015 safety Antoine Wilder 5'11"175lbs (Atlanta, Ga./Hapeville Charter) is an emerging prospect to watch in the state of Georgia.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder has offers from Kennesaw State and Tennessee State, but as his academics have improved, schools like Kentucky, Georgia, Miami and South Carolina have all showed major interest and will offer pending a strong camp showing from Wilder on their campuses, according to Hapeville head coach Winston Gordon.
What type of player is Wilder, in his own words?
"I'm a man-to-man type of guy," Wilder says. "I need to work on my off-man. I love bltizing. I'm a physical safety. I love catching people coming across the middle. That's my type of game. I'm like an Earl Thomas, Ed Reed-type of guy."
While the attention that the schools show will ultimately play a major part in his recruitment, there are five programs Wilder has strong interest in early on. He gave his thoughts on why he likes each.
Georgia: "Probably because it's close to home. Coach (Bryan McClendon is a) good coach and good friend of ours. My mom loves Georgia. She's sold. She wants to sign."
Miami: "Just the history, the background, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, just what they've done. I really like the city."
South Carolina: "Coach (Grady) Brown and Coach (Lorenzo) Ward -- I love those two guys right there. Coach Brown, he loves me, I've got to go to camp June 13. They're definitely top five. My boy Arden (Key), he loves it."
Kentucky: "Coach (Derek) Ansley, I love him. He hits me up almost every day. I'm his No. 1 guy. He's showed me a lot of love. He came down here and saw me do drills one day. He put an offer on the table then. He didn't waste any time."
North Carolina: "Coach (Larry Porter), he shows a lot of love too. He just came down (last Thursday). I love North Carolina."
Wilder isn't sure about a timetable for a commitment.
What is he looking for in a program?
"Education," Wilder said. "What can they do for me after football? Because football ends. You can go to the NFL from anywhere."
