Quarterback coaches Chad Morris of Clemson and GA Mangus of USC don’t often cross recruiting paths outside of the state when he it comes to offering quarterbacks. But the two have zeroed in on 4 star Lamar Jackson (6-2 185) of Boynton Beach, FL He also has offers from Florida State, Syracuse, Nebraska, Cincinnati, Utah State and Akron. Jackson said style of offenses Clemson and USC run attracted him, and he liked how Tajh Boyd and Connor Shaw played in those offenses.
“I could fit in either one,” he said. Right now he has a top ten, in no order, of Clemson, USC, Florida State, Oregon, West Virginia, Baylor, Auburn, Texas A&M, Florida and Nebraska. He also has interest in Georgia Tech. Jackson has never been to Clemson or USC but plans to visit at some point. He’s had more contact with Morris than Mangus, who has talked more to his coach, and he said Morris told him he’s his top prospect on the board.
Jackson has not taken any junior day visits thus far and hasn’t scheduled any. Last season Jackson passed for 1688 yards and 25 touchdowns and rushed for 1401 yards and 16 scores. He wants to make his decision before the end of is senior season.
