4 star OL Clark Yarbrough (6-6 273) of Woodberry Forest, VA is one of the nation’s most sought after offensive linemen, and as he comes down the stretch of his recruiting activities, Clemson and USC are both major players according to his coach. Yarbrough visited both schools earlier this month and both figure to be on his list when he makes his decision known May 21st, the last day of spring practice at his school.
“I know he had a great visit down there,” coach Clint Alexander said of the Clemson visit. “He was real excited. He really liked the coaching staff. I’m sure they’re one of his top schools. And South Carolina has a great business program and that’s key. When you come to a school like this one (Woodberry Forest), you’re not just going to pick on football reasons. Clark has talked to me at length about the business school at South Carolina.”
Yarbrough also has visited Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, Penn State, Boston College, Michigan and others and will visit Stanford this weekend. His mother did not get to visit schools with him in the fall so he’s taking her on these visits.
Yarbrough is originally from New Jersey but moved to his grandparent’s home in Charlottesville, VA after Hurricane Sandy destroyed his home. Coach Alexander said the fact his grandparents live in Charlottesville could be a factor related to Virginia when Yarbrough makes his decision.
Yarbrough can play all the positions on the line and his coach says his toughness is second to none.
“He’s the most physical offensive lineman I’ve ever had,” Alexander said. “He wants to push people thru the ground.’
A further sign of his athleticism is Yarbrough plays center on the basketball team and throws the shot put on the track team.
