Coach Beamer details his plan for 'that program in the Upstate'

12/10/2020 HF

When Shane Beamer was last on the Gamecock staff, the Gamecocks at that time had a firm grip on the rivalry with Clemson and on the instate recruiting battles. In the decade since he left, Clemson has flipped the script, and the Tigers are currently on a six-game winning streak in the rivalry. (READ ON)

'that program in the Upstate'

Calling them that makes me feel great that he understands the importance of this rivalry, and that he wants to seriously do something to turn the tables back our way.

Go Cocks!

Hi, all been an gamecock for 45 years or more and my Kids went their as well, but tell you the truth I would love for us to get away from thinking that  the team in the upstate is all  we think about.   I would love to see the game moved to the 3rd or 4th game of the season and put Georgia last for an while.

Don't get me wrong I hate the tigers as much as any one person can,  but somehow some way we have to think about bigger things like winning the SEC  .

IT' SEEMS NO MATTER WHAT WE ALWAYS WORRIED ABOUT THE TIGERS FORGET THEM MAN, LET'S MOVE ON AND SUPPORT OUR PROGRAM AND GET BETTER FIRST.    Again I hate them as much as any one man could believe me.   Just some thought, ok I 'm done now.

When we start beating them again, we won't think about them as much.  I know I didn't when Spurrier was spanking them.  We have to think about them because they are on our schedule every year, just like UF and Uga.  Believe me, they'll be talking more about us when the tide turns.

ok I 'm done now.
LOL - vent away!  I agree with what you say, but do think everybody in the nation is using the Taters as a measuring stick of where their program is right now - sadly, they just happen to be our arch rival.

That may have sounded good in 1995, but USC is in a position where a coach has an opportunity to beat two of the Top 4 teams in the country (Bama and Clemson).  That's three if you count UGA or the Gators.  I don't understand why we have never really been perceived as a destination job in that respect.

Take that hill!!
