Coach Beamers Sunday night teleconferences quotes with audio
Sept. 26, 2021
Beamer: Obviously a lot of guys hurting in this facility today. Really proud of our guy's effort and the physicality they played with for the most part."
Beamer: Happy about the turnovers his team created, but definitely disappointed that the offense couldn't take advantage against Kentucky.
Beamer: " It's tough when you only run 51 plays on offense and 15 of them are third or fourth down plays."
Beamer: "It's frustrating because we are really, really close. That's especially life in the SEC. The margin of error is very small. We obviously have to get better. Start games faster and not get ourselves in a hole."
Beamer: "Looking back at the decision making I made last night, I would do the exact same thing again. We had manageable down and distances (4th downplays). We had two good play calls, but we just didn't get it done."
Beamer: "Critical week for us, we've got to get better.
Beamer: Struggles of the offense, "we've just got to execute better. This may not be what people want to hear, but a lot of the plays we called were really good calls. Every week, you look at everything you're doing each week. There's a lot that we have to be better at."
Beamer: Struggles of the running game, "it's not just one person. There were some runs where the WR's perimeter blocking has to be better. They were plays where we were in the gun and the footwork of the QB was not perfect."
Beamer: First four games of the season. "I think we're still a work in progress. Luke Doty started his first game of the season last night. I'm not making excuses, but we're still a work in progress. I expected us to be performing better than we are now."
Beamer: "I see weapons, now we've got to figure out a way to get the ball to those guys."
Beamer: The team came out of the Kentucky game in pretty good shape health-wise.
Beamer: Running back rotation, "we've got to continue to look at that position and see who gives us the best chance to be successful. You only run 51 plays, it's hard to get a lot of those guys involved."
