Coach Beamers Sunday night tele-Conference quotes

Nov. 14, 2021

Beamer: Didn't think his team was flat.

Beamer: Team was just off and inconsistent in all three phases.

Beamer on offensive futility: We had some play-action opportunities and didn't hit them. Used some max-protect for double-moves that didn't work out. They played man coverage and we've got to get open.

Beamer: They did a lot of what we thought they would do (defensively). Ran their DEs up the field more than on film. On 3rd down, they used some different fronts and pressures. Loaded the box, played 0 coverage and stopped the run.

Beamer: Some of the sacks weren't on the OL. Jason Brown knows this, sometimes he has to step up in the pocket. Can't always escape outside if they're rushing their DEs upfield, but sometimes there were guys not picked up.

Beamer: After reviewing film, I'm not saying I'm happy b/c we lost, but there were some good things and what went wrong in protection wasn't all on the OL.

Yea, can't pump but so much sunshine after what we watched.  I get the positive outlook just tone it down a bit.

Todd and Jamar pointed out a bunch of times on the radio that Brown was causing some of his own sacks by not stepping up in the pocket.  It makes you think nobody upstairs ever communicated that to someone on the sidelines to tell him to stop it.   I don't know.

Beyond that...

According to The State article the team didn't practice yesterday.  Watched film and reviewed their mistakes instead.  Probably a could call.

I noticed that about Brown.  He never stepped up.  I think if he had, more passes may have been completed.  Step up away from the rush / blitz.  He has to ditch that horrible spin move as well.

Was saying the same thing during the game.  It worked once or twice vs UF but its a very slow spin and roll, usually to his left.   Mizzou knew it was coming.

Brown's technique had nothing to do with our lack of being able to stop the run.  We looked awful most of the night on both sides of the ball.  We have sooooooooo much that needs fixing.  Maybe one day!!

Agree.  Brown played OK and honestly, I blame the coaches.  Watching the game, I don't recall seeing any coaches really talking to Brown much during the game.  Our D was like swiss cheese.  Arm tackles everywhere and not playing with intensity.  I don't feel our coaching staff made any adjustments after halftime on either side of the ball.
