Seems that one of the commitments is Saniya Rivers...#3 overall 6ft CG out of North Carolina

Since Coach Staley can't tell names until she gets a signed letter, we have to wait for the prospects to actually make announcements of commitments. Coach Staley likes to tweet her "birdie flew into the nest" tweets ahead of them committing, so if they don't announce soon afterwards, it leaves us anxious.

At first it the early speculation from Gamecocks WBB fans were that the 2 were a class of 2021 true incoming freshman committing, and a possible transfer from another program. The early class prospects mentioned were 5* 5-8 PG Raven Johnson, out of GA, and there's been discussion on other boards of Maryland 5-11 G Taylor Mikesell possibly transferring to USC. Mikesell would be a rising Junior, so she would have to red-shirt next season unless she got a waiver. But Mikesell was a former 5* 5-9 PG out of the 2018 cycle, that is more of a combo guard, and was 1st team All-Big10 last season for MD.

Others have mentioned 2021 overall #3 6-0 G Saniya Rivers out of NC, overall #6 6-3 F Sania Feagin, out of GA, and even overall #1 5-11 G Azzi Fudd.

Now, a transfer from another program can make their announcement much sooner than a prospect who has to wait to sign. But since Coach Staley made her initial tweets above, she responded to another on twitter in a way that made it seem that both "birdies" in this case were not any transfers, but were actual members of the 2021 class. And since THAT, the talk has been brought up that one of those birdies was in fact Rivers who is joining the program. I don't know if this is entirely true, but if it is that is a huge addition to the program. It seems that Rivers brings both elite offense and defense to the table.

We'll just have to keep watching. The staff has the program running at an elite level right now....

Coach Staley has added a 3rd commit to the 2021 class:

As with the first 2, we'll have to wait to see officially who those 3 are. But looks like the class will be another strong one. They will be added to the roster for the 2021-22 season, the season after this coming one. The big class of Boston, Cooke, Beal, Amihere, and Thompson will be Juniors that season, and Henderson, Saxton, and Wesolek will be Seniors. That team should be strong contenders for at least the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons....

She is set to start dominating and I firmly believe would have won it all this past year.

Well things continue to get more and more interesting, if not exciting about the program:

So it appears now we will have at least a 4-prospect 2021 class. Still do not have official word on any of the 4, but this latest tweet from Dawn cleverly (or slyly) implies the latest one may be a "big", or a post/forward position player. USC is in strong standing with 5* and overall #6 on ESPN's Hoopgurlz 6-3 F Sania Feagin, and are also in good standing with 5* and overall #22 6-3 W Teonna Key, although the word is she was leaning towards Tennessee and joining her sister Tamari Key there.

This 2021 class is turning into another stellar, possibly top 5 or better class. These girls would spend 2 years with the previous overall #1 rated 2019 class of Boston, Cooke, Beal, and Amihere, as well as 3 years with 5* Eniya Russell. Fun days ahead.....

I'm beyond ready to learn who the other 3 commits will be! So we know 2 are from the class of 2021 -- one of which may or may not include Bree Hall according to Staley's original statement. I've heard from other forums that we want a transfer to play the 4-spot immediately but I don't have a clue who we are looking at on the transfer market.

My guesses: Saniya Rivers, Sania Feagan and a Forward transfer that can play immediately

Saniya Rivers makes her official announcement to join the Gamecocks! Two down, two to go!

Rivers' addition to the class is a big one. The best-rated prospect from the 2021 cycle that we will get in my opinion. From all reports the last 2 may be Feagin and Johnson - we could still bring in a graduate transfer, as even with the 4 mystery commits we'd still have at least 1 more available scholarship, and if it's a graduate transfer whoever it was would come play next season in 2020-2021 and then be gone before any of these incoming freshmen arrive for 2021-2022. So the transfer wouldn't get in the way of any development of these girls in the program.

So lets see - with 2 now officially in the fold, perhaps the other 2 are soon to follow.....

I looked up Raven Johnson - #13 overall, #2 PG. I would think she is more likely than Fudd and is a true PG - Dawn likes her floor leaders, and she would be the 3rd PG to go with Destanni and Zia. One year learning with Destanni, two with Zia.

Fudd's recruiting has been on the downlow though - and Dawn likes to snag recruits out of nowhere.

But the two options are absoutely ridiculous. Do we get the #1 player or settle for #13/#2 PG?
I don't know if we're grooming Zia to be a PG -- or at least I think she'll see the majority of her playing time at the 2 until Destanni graduates. Don't forget Eniya Russell is a top-50 player and PG who is enrolling soon.

I think most people have it narrowed down to 2 prospects as the 4th member of this class...Raven Johnson or Teonni Key. I think there is a miniscule chance it is Fudd but probably a pipe dream. I've also heard rumors of a 3 star PG that we are entertaining up north but I can't remember her name. If I had to guess, my gut tells me Raven Johnson is the mystery 4th person.

Looks like Raven Johnson will announce her commitment on June 25th. I think she is the missing link and will be a Gamecock.
