Cohen updates post decommitment plans

Former USC commitment OL Javion Cohen of Pell City, AL was not mad at the Gamecocks when he announced his decommitment earlier this week. He actually was mad at himself for having to do so. Cohen said the relationship between him and the Gamecocks remains very good. But he also wants to check out some other places, and doing so as a commitment wouldn’t be right.
“I didn’t want to visit while being committed and I felt like I didn’t want to keep it a secret,” Cohen said. “You know, I’m up front with everything so I went ahead and announced it publicly.”
At this point, Cohen doesn’t want to identify a number one team. But USC remains high on his list.
“I’m highly considering them,” he said. “We still talk every day. They said they still count me as a recruit, that it’s just a phase that I have to go thru, and they respect it. We’re still on the same page with each other.”
Cohen visited USC in late January and was back for the spring game earlier this month. He’s also visited Auburn, Alabama and LSU. This Friday he will visit Auburn and Georgia Tech. And next weekend he will return to USC with his mother for an official visit.
Cohen said he also wants to visit Tennessee, Florida State, Florida and Oregon which offered him Wednesday. Along with USC, Cohen said the schools recruiting the hardest are Ole Miss, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Oregon, Georgia Tech and Auburn.
His plan now is to wait on a decision until the early signing date of December 19th.
