College football polls: Updated AP Top 25, Coaches Poll rankings after Week 2
Sept. 11, 2022

Chaos has made an early appearance in the 2022 college football season.

That starts at the top of last week's rankings, where top-ranked Alabama managed to limp out of Austin, Texas with a 20-19 win in tow. Like the 2010 BCS championship game, the Longhorns were without their starting quarterback, Quinn Ewers, who exited the game near the end of the first quarter with a sprained clavicle. Fans likewise were not happy with officiating in the game.

While the Crimson Tide maintained their spot atop the coaches' poll, they fell out of the No. 1 spot in the AP Top 25, with Georgia moving up after a shutout of FCS opponent Samford.

At least Alabama won. The same could not be said for fellow top-10 teams Texas A&M or Notre Dame. The sixth-ranked Aggies and eighth-ranked Fighting Irish fell 17-14 to Appalachian State and 26-21 to Marshall, respectively.

Elsewhere, No. 20 Kentucky beat No. 12 Florida 26-16 in Gainesville for the Wildcats' second victory over the Gators in two years. It is the first time since the 1976 and '77 seasons that Kentucky has two straight wins over Florida.

Other notable wins (and losses) in the college football world: No. 21 BYU's 26-20 victory over No. 9 Baylor; No. 24 Tennessee's 34-27 triumph over No. 17 Pitt; Washington State's 17-14 win over No. 19 Wisconsin; and Texas Tech's 33-30 defeat of No. 25 Houston.

The Sporting News takes a look at the latest college football rankings in the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll ahead of the Week 3 slate:

Kentucky 9 and 10 respectfully Arkansas 10 and 11 Georgia 1 and 2 Tenessess up to 10 A&M falls to 22 Florida now 21. Bad news we got to play them all. The good news is Arkansas is behind but beat the heck out of the team. Walking wounded everywhere. How can I forget Clemson hanging steady at the 5 spot.

As of this week, our schedule has 2 top 5, 2 more form the top 10, and 3 more from the top 25. Gonna have to find an upset or 2 to get bowl eligible.

The upset effect in this week's poll for sure.

I am hoping we will continue to improve this season and get an upset or two.

I believe the GSU win and the loss to the Hogs won't be that bad if we can survive the UGA game and get some SEC wins down the road.

I think GSU will be ranked at some point this season and it won't be so bad if we get some good wins after the UGA game.
