DURHAM, N.C—Florida continued its run at No. 1 in the Baseball America College Top 25 rankings while rival Florida State, whom the Gators beat in midweek action last week, moved up to No. 2.
Florida was able to retain its No. 1 ranking despite losing a weekend series at Mississippi, which was rewarded with the week's biggest jump, moving up six spots to No. 10. Last week's Nos. 2 and 3 teams, Stanford and Arkansas, were both swept by ranked opponents Arizona and Louisiana State, respectively, opening the door for a major shakeup at the top of the rankings.
North Carolina, Arizona and UCLA moved up to fill out the rest of the new top five. Stanford fell to No. 6, while Arkansas tumbled to No. 13. Further down the rankings, Baylor was another team to make a big jump, moving up five places to No. 16 after sweeping Oklahoma State to extend its winning streak to 11 games.
Auburn was the only team to join the rankings this week, replacing fellow Southeastern Conference squad Georgia. The Tigers won two of three at Mississippi State over the weekend and have won three straight SEC series.
