DURHAM, N.C—Florida State, coming off a 4-0 week that included a sweep of Notre Dame, remained No. 1 in Baseball America’s Top 25 rankings for the third straight week.
Preseason No. 1 Virginia moved up to No. 2 after going 4-1, including taking a road series at Pittsburgh. Louisiana-Lafayette, at 30-3 following a 4-0 week, is now No. 3, the highest the Ragin’ Cajuns have been ranked by Baseball America. Cal Poly is fourth with South Carolina dropping to fifth after losing a series at Arkansas. Oregon State, Texas, Houston, Washington and Alabama round out the top 10.
Among the biggest movers in this week’s rankings were Rice, which fell to No. 21 from 12th; and Kentucky, which jumped to No. 12 from 22nd after winning a series against Florida.
Miami re-entered the rankings at No. 24 after sweeping its second consecutive ACC road series. Defending national champion UCLA dropped out of the Top 25 for the first time this year after losing its second straight weekend series.
