Couisnard, Kotsar propel South Carolina over Gardner-Webb, 74-69

Redshirt sophomore guard scored a career-high 16 points

Jermaine Couisnard converted a three-point play with just over a minute to go Friday as South Carolina slipped past Gardner-Webb, 74-69.(VIEW ARTICLE)

0-4 GW gave us all we wanted last night...at home.  What has happened to our defense?

I was thinking the same way but I think 3 factors come into play here. One is CFM is trying all kinds of defensive and offensive combos during this time of the year. Two, Garder Webb was playing a big Power 5 Program and came out with their hair on fire. 3, we are very very young and we wil continue to see games like this until CFM decides on his rotation of players. We really dont need to loose games like the GW game but CFM uses these games to scout which players are ready to produce under real game situations.

Keep in mind that Gardner Webb made the tournament last year and gave eventual national champion Virginia all they could handle for the first 25 minutes or so of the 1-16 game. They returned 4 key guys from last year, so they weren't going to back down against us. If I had been told we would start the year 4-1, I would have guessed the loss would be to Gardner Webb, not Boston U.
