QB Mike Hold couldn’t win the starting job in 1984 but kept coming in and winning games. Soon it became obvious he was better than Allen Mitchell but Jo Mo said if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and kept starting Mitchell with Hold Relieving him. Jason Brown reminds me a lot of Mike Hold in the way he plays and that he seems to be a gamer more than a practice player. Hold also was a transfer. Let’s Hope Jason has the same success.

Shane mentioned in the presser that he asked Jason to lose some weight after the Spring Game and said he would have probably got sacked on that great turnaround move and pass to Vann instead had he not done so.

There were probably additional things Shane gave him to improve on and it looks like he's been rewarded for his efforts with success on the field.

He's looked the best against a quality SEC of any QB we have had in the last two seasons, but he has to continue to have good teammates around him like Hold and Mitchell had in 1984.

One thing I saw from the feed after the game when JB got his game ball was how much his teammates love him - and that goes a long way sometimes, in terms of rallying behind someone you believe in.

He has that combination of physicality and intelligence that all of Shane's former notable recruits here had/have.

A very sharp guy in every way.

I looked up St. Francis University. Middle of Nowhere PA. But only about 20 miles from Altoona, PA, Steve Tanneyhill's hometown. Coincidence?
