Culture.

Simply put, Beamer is a leader of men.  Real leaders in this world are few and far between, I feel that we have one.  He is working hard to build a culture that will last.

Awesome, Justin King and company are superb.  These players will remember this and it only a positive going forward.  I firmly believe good days are ahead of us.

Excellent!  When I was in the Marines, I had a CO for whom I would have run through a wall, or charged Hell with a water pistol. Shane Beamer is one of those guys.

On its own, this is a great video and thanks for posting it.

Having said that, the Clemson game was a real tear-jerker that should not have happened.  No feel-good footage from that one, eh?  A great video to make earlier in the season, but a waste of time now.  I support Shane, but the mundane record and lopsided losses this year would say to some that this strategy hasn't really worked with this team.

The cryptic message in this video is that Shane has consistently had problems with non-team-players this season and he has probably been overwhelmed and outnumbered by it.  That means some players ain't gonna be around next season for that reason.  Some will matriculate out normally through graduation and the draft; others will probably be asked to leave.  A good thing.

Plenty of positive takeaways on the work Shane is putting into turning the program around, too.

As far as "the selfish player" stuff goes, I will add only one other thing.  I have watched Dabo tear into a player on the sidelines in the right way several times over the years.  The player will have this "who do you think you are" look on his face, but Dabo doesn't back down and he fixes the problem during the game.

I have watched Dabo's Sunday morning coach's show several times this season.  It is short, sweet, and to the point.  Plenty of good football highlights balanced with player personal spotlights.  I could not even find a local broadcast of Shane's show; there's a website instead.  I guess there's not enough local interest in Columbia until the program gets better.

Don't do Powerpoint crap anymore after this season; coach the team the right way on game day like most winning coaches do.

Over the course of 20 years, I served with exactly one CO like that and one 1SG like that. Unfortunately those two were not at the same time, and more unfortunately there were far too many who would jump to the front of the line to throw one of their own people under the bus. Great leaders are few and far between. The trick is to enjoy working with them while you can.

I was fortunate to serve in the Navy with good ones and also later in the business world after I got out.  I would say about 60/40 good leadership as time as passed.

You have to be careful not to let the bad ones poison the waters, but that's easier said than done sometimes.

I have learned how to work the management silos to get what I need (most of the time it's what others I support need) because some civilian senior managers I have worked with are too afraid of rocking the boat and put it off on me.  It is both ridiculous and job justification for me at the same time.

But at the end of the day, I also have to know how to do my own job, too.  That's why I say that Shane is going to have to grow an inch or two as a first-time head coach.  Dawn can get whatever she needs from Tanner because he knows she will walk the talk.  Shane will get whatever he wants as soon as the team gets consistently better on game day, which I believe will happen next year.

The head coach sets the culture, and after watching the way other coaches have conducted themselves, I’m proud to have Shane Beamer.
A lot of people crapped on him and didn’t like that he continued to coach Oklahoma in the post season last year, despite the fact that he had been named our HC. I said it then, and I’ll say it again, that I had a lot of respect for him for doing that last year. I understand that coaching, despite contracts, is a year to year deal, but when you are a coach of a team, you should be a coach for that whole season, regardless of how long it goes. Shane Beamer honored his commitment, and honored everyone of the other coaches, and the players, and the Oklahoma fan base, by finishing his job, and seeing it through to the end. That’s what a man does. He takes care of his responsibilities. These pieces of garbage like Lincoln Riley and Brian Kelly have lost all of my respect, and I hope their players see what spineless weasels they are.  It’s kind of like having an affair with a married person, so they divorce their spouse to marry you. You will forever be wondering if they are cheating on you, because they were cheating with you. I hold them both in contempt, and hope their careers go down the toilet. God bless Shane Beamer!

This is a great video. I, too; think Coach Beamer is the right guy. It's true we were up and down this year. However please consider that this was a brand new staff coaching players most of whom they didn't recruit. We played three quarterbacks including one who started the year as a GA coach. I know there are other teams like Tennessee that were in the same position but fared better. Still I'm impressed with what was accomplished in year one and believe we're on the right track. Now let's beat the Tarheels here in my hometown and finish 7-6.
