DB Tyron Hopper says there’s a lot to like about Gamecocks

Tyron Hopper likes South Carolina’s ‘flow’
It’s been just over a year since Tyron Hopper received his first offer. In March 2017, when South Carolina made the move, Hopper was a 6-foot-2, 190-pound cornerback at Gaffney (S.C.) High School.
Within the last 12 months, Hopper has transferred to Roswell (Ga.) High School, put on 20 pounds and switched positions. He’s the No. 18 inside linebacker in the Class of 2019, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
“Transitioning was easy, because I can pass rush and I feel like no linebacker can cover like me,” Hopper said. “Going from cornerback to linebacker helped me with my coverage skills.”
Alabama, Florida and Miami are among his 18 listed offers.
South Carolina hosted him last month during spring practice. Plenty caught his eye.
“The way everything [runs], the flow and everything,” Hopper said. “The way everything’s going. I really like the defense and how it was run.”
Defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson and linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler are the primary coaches from South Carolina’s staff that are in touch.
“They really like me. They’re really interested in me. They show love. I hear from them a lot,” Hopper said.
While on spring break in April, he plans to visit Florida and Miami. A commitment could come after those trips are finished.
Several factors will be considered.
“Interest, the school that fits me, good education, things like that,” Hopper said.
