3 star DE Blake McClain 6'4" 280lbs of Jacksonville said Tuesday night he has made his decision between USC and Nebraska and will announce the choice Wednesday at 9:00 AM at his school. McClain committed to Nebraska last week on an official visit there but USC continued to recruit him hard and worked their way into a 50-50 position with him before he made his decision tonight after discussing things with his family. "It was very tough," McClain said. "I did a lot of talking with my parents and we went thru a re-evaluation of everything. But I think I made the right decision." Asked if there was one particular factor that led to his decision, McClain declined to say to avoid tipping his hand on the choice. McClain talked Tuesday night with USC head coach Steve Spurrier and recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. as well as his recruiter from Nebraska. He said he has told no one of his decision.

February 04, 2014

3 star DE Blake McClain 6'3" 280lbs of Jacksonville, FL committed to Nebraska on his official visit last weekend but that decision is far from solid on the eve of National Signing Day. McClain said tonight he's actually torn between the Cornhuskers and USC. "It's 50-50," he said. McClain said he will discuss things tonight with his parents and try to come to a decision. He said he definitely will sign on NSD at either 8:00 or 9:00 AM. McClain has not taken an official visit to USC.

Well now......if he committed to Nebraska, and he has reconsidered his decision, didn't he just indirectly say he's a Gamecock?

Just trying to read between the lines here.

DE Blake McClain (6-4 284) of Jacksonville, FL has decided to sign with USC flipping from Nebraska to whom he committed last weekend. McClain picks the Gamecocks sight unseen. He's never visited.

But USC recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. worked him hard over the last week after he decommitted from Florida State. "It was the fact the coaches were very genuine and really showed tat they wanted me," McClain said. He also said the chance for early playing time at USC was an important factor.

Last season McClain had 24 tackles for loss, 15 sacks and forced 15 fumbles. "He's very athletic and can play inside or outside," said his coach Adam Geiss. "He's a heck of an athlete. He can run and make plays."
