4 star Long time Florida State commitment Dexter Wideman 6'4" 276lbs of Saluda today switched his allegiance to USC and signed with the Gamecocks at a ceremony at his school. Wideman had been committed to the Seminoles since last summer but USC kept up their recruiting efforts on him and it paid off today. "I am going to keep my talents in the state of South Carolina," Wideman said in announcing his decision. The Shrine Bowler makes it a three for three day thus far for the Gamecocks and their targets with DB Wesley Green expected to make it four for four at 5:00. Wideman was a Shrine Bowl selection and regarded as the state's top defensive lineman last season. "He's extremely explosive and real quick off the ball," said former Saluda coach Doug Painter. "He's got good upper body strength but needs to learn how to use his body better." Wideman's signing gives the Gamecocks 20 recruits in their class.
