USC threw its name into the hat for DE [COLOR= rgb(178, 34, 34)]Khalid Kareem [/COLOR](6-4 260) of Farmington Hills, MI with an offer Wednesday and he’s interested enough to visit later this month. Kareem said his plan is to check out the program around June 20th while he’s on vacation in the Beaufort area. Kareem will announce his college choice on June 24th.
“I do have interest in South Carolina,” said Kareem who has not narrowed his list from his 40 offers. “They produce great defensive ends. They usually get drafted high in the first round or second round.”
Gamecock defensive line coach Deke Adams has been the Gamecocks’ front man with Kareem and the two talked Wednesday.
This will be Kareem’s first visit to USC. He has been to several schools including Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois and Northwestern.
At this point, Kareem said he has not favorite. “I’m just looking for where I can fit in and make an impact when I get there. A school where I can fit in.”
Last season Kareem totaled 85 tackles with 18 sacks.
