Defensive end prospect sets return visits to two SEC schools
July 20, 2016

Matthew Butler will return to South Carolina and Tennessee this week.

The 3-star defensive end from Garner High School (N.C.) will check out the Vols on Thursday. On Saturday, he’ll head to Columbia for the Gamecocks’ recruiting cookout.

Earlier this week, Butler put out a tweet that suggested he could be back on the road.

Butler, who’s ranked by the 247Sports’ composite as the No. 28 strong-side defensive end in the class of 2017, visited both of the schools last month.

“I got to really see how they do things, the culture and the strength coaching, as well,” he said of South Carolina. “That’s really what I’m into, my development, my education and really enjoying campus life, so I really got to take an in-depth look and it was enjoyable and informative.”

N.C. State and Duke are also firmly in the mix, along with the two SEC programs. Butler plans to announce his decision during a ceremony at his school. No date has been scheduled.
