Defensive tackle ready to return for spring game

March 28, 2018

Ready to return

Three coaches from South Carolina are teaming up to recruit 4-star defensive tackle Jaelin Humphries.

Will Muschamp, linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson are in pursuit of the 6-foot-4, 303-pound 4-star lineman from Mountain View High School in Lawrenceville, Ga.

“I stay in contact with them a lot. They recruit me pretty hard, like all the schools,” Humphries said.

According to the 247Sports composite, Humphries is ranked as the No. 13 defensive tackle in the Class of 2019.

“[Muschamp] said he likes me as a defensive tackle the most and he was impressed with my film a lot.”

The Gamecocks are expected to have him in for the Garnet and Black spring game on Saturday. He last visited in January for junior day and has been on campus a couple of other times.

“I like the location they’re in. It’s a good location. I just like the program at South Carolina. they’re on the up-rise,” Humphries said.

Humphries plans to attend Georgia’s spring game. Trips to Auburn and LSU are also in the works.

Top target sees Auburn

Four-star cornerback Jammie Robinson (Cordele, Ga.) has been to South Carolina several times this year. More recently, he’s made stops at Georgia and Auburn.

Following his trip to Auburn, the 2019 prospect spoke with SEC Country’s Ben Wolk.

“[Recruiting], it’s picking back up because it’s about that time to make a decision. It’s getting close to the time to eliminate some schools and keep some schools in the mix,” Robinson said. “They really wanted me to get out and watch the guys move around and show me I have the opportunity to come in and play early. That’s pretty much it. I always like it at Auburn.”

As he has indicated in the past, Robinson doesn’t plan to make a decision until December, just before he graduates from Crisp County High School.

“I’ve got to get to the schools that have offered me and the schools that have been in touch with me more, you know, showing me and giving me the best impression,” Robinson said. “I’m trying to get to those schools first and then I’ll see how it plays out.”
