Feel bad for Destiny.  She’s in the best shape of her life, posting back in June that she was weighing in at 168 pds, 22 less than her high school weight, and a whopping 52 less than the max she got while at Texas.

Now we go into the season with a pretty short roster of eleven.  We’ll see if Lele or Brea starts the season at the wing.  Will definitely see more of the 3 PGs on the court together.   Wesolek and Thompson will also get more opportunities.

While this sucks for this year, it will be a bonus the next two seasons as Littleton will be playing alongside all the young talent with a year of experience.  I think Destiny is going to show out when she steps on the court for the Gamecocks.  She was pretty miserable at UT and that likely took its toll.  All signs show she is very happy she chose to come to USC.

Dawn flat out states that in order to get waivers through the NCAA you may have to "fudge" the truth a little; whereas, SC doesn't so no approval.

Very disappointed for Destiny, but not surprised. I've read that Evina Westbrook was also denied by the NCAA to be eligible this season for UConn, although they still have the appeal process ahead for them. We've already appealed and lost that too, for Destiny.

It also wouldn't surprise me that UConn gets their appeal approved, and Westbrook is made immediately available. Separate from the above notion that programs have to fudge their applications - which I am in no position to disagree with - Westbrook had one specific thing in her best interests that UConn could use, that we cannot for Destiny: the program turmoil in what would be Holly Warlick and her staff's final season there. Although head coaches and staffs change all the time, lately it seems to be taken into more account with transfers by the NCAA than before.

But I never read of any issues regarding Destiny at Texas, other than it just wasn't working out for her. If anything. she transferred to a program even further away from home, so it couldn't be homesickness, but I don't think the NCAA even takes that into consideration. There were no outstanding personality conflicts between her and the Longhorn staff that I know of, so I was expecting to be pleasantly surprised to find that Littleton got approved, if she had.

Anyhow, Auriemma is raising a big stink over Westbrook's denial before submitting their appeal, while Dawn kept the whole thing secret and quiet until our whole process was concluded, so I doubt even Dawn was seriously expecting Destiny to get approved.

But if Destiny stays on through this red-shirt year, and is with the program next season, it will still be added depth along with Destanie and Zia, and we'll still have a very strong back-court for 2020-21. It was going to be a crowded position for playing time this season anyways, with Ty added into the mix.....
