Did Satterfield save his job with the beat down on Florida?

Gamecocks' finish the season strong on offense, then 100% yes. Without a doubt he will be back. If the last 3 games go like the A&M game, there's a decent chance he will be gone.

Keep playing like we did last Saturday, get us to a bowl, and have Brown keep improving - would be tough/not make sense to fire him. Lay eggs these last three and he's gonzo, I would think.

I agree with both of you 100%

I know the offense has been dismal, not counting this past weekend, but do you guys know, or is it speculation, that Satterfield would be fired?  My thinking is he gets at least one more year, regardless.

This, I agree.  No need to fire anyone at this point from a fan perspective.  Beamer knows what's going on.

Probably bought him some time. Bowl eligibility means he definitely will not get fired. Honestly though he probably wasn’t going to get fired anyway. I don’t see Beamer a first year head coach firing anyone after one year.

Um Satterfield , I think he's OK  at times he still needs some help with some more talent that would help things get things simple for the O.L.  I believe that is going to be key the rest of the year don't make things complicated just use simple stuff win upfront.  Body on body get away from that zone blocking crap stay simple . Use more counters

I am not impressed.  It took him 8 games into the season to come up with the genius strategy that they need to "win their one on one's". The FL game is how we should have been playing all season.  Not sure he will be able to adjust and coach the line effectively when opposing DC's make adjustments and run more complicated schemes.

There's a reason why FL fired Grantham, and it is a very valid one.  If we play well and are able to run the ball on Clemson, I say give him one more year.  If not, it's time to go.

I don't think he will be fired, but like 86 Gradcock said, this was 1 game and 8 games into the season.  Why did it take so long to get our players to execute a scheme?  I think he gets another year, but I am still not sold on him, but I am also not on the fire him train.  I am in the wait and see mode for the next 3 games.

Somehow I get the impression that Beamer told him to change blocking schemes, at least for running plays, during the bye week and it helped the run blocking. Part of the success is that Florida is weak defending this scheme and that the running backs had a lot more desire to break tackles. Yards gained after contact were good. Pass blocking wasn't much better but Brown showed very good pocket presence and avoided the unblocked rushers well. Running the ball well makes the rest of team play better even on defense. And, not being in first and 15 or 20 all the time helps too. We'll see how things go at Mizzou. You would think that they would look to shut down the run game but if the backs can break a few tackles it could lead to some big gains.

Did anyone else hear that Shane had the coaching analysts not only scout Florida but go back and analyze ourselves,  too, during the off week? He seemed to think that helped make some changes to the game plan. If so, good job, all!!

I agree with most here that the Florida game was more of an outlier: they had 20-30 players miss practice time the past week due to the flu, while we had two weeks to prepare for them relatively healthy. Plus there may be some other chemistry/lockerroom issues with that Florida team that kept them from rising up and playing with pride against our Gamecocks, on our own field and in front of our fans.

So the jury is still out on Satterfield. If there can be some improvements along the lines of what we saw against Florida for the rest of the season, and the team looks at least prepared and competitive against our remaining opponents, he may get a pass. We have a chance against Missouri's defense - particularly their run defense which is the worst in the conference. While the Tiger's offense is their team strength, our defense is ours, and Missouri looks to still be without the services of their starting QB Bazelak who was injured against Vanderbilt 2 weeks ago, and did not play against UGA last week. They rotated two backup QBs who accounted for just two field goals in their 43-6 loss to the Bulldogs, so that may be welcome news for our defense if they have to rely on those guys again...

Shane Beamer: Alright. Can I get a debrief on the analysis of our team?

Analyst: Yes, our offensive linemen block areas regardless of where the opposing players attack. My recommendation is that the linemen not allow opposing players to run through gaps and around the edges untouched.

Shane Beamer: Wow. Interesting. You sure that will work?

Analyst: It may be worth a try sir. If it doesn't work we can always revert back to watching the opponent race as fast as they can into the pocket.

Shane Beamer: Good. Good. Okay, what else you got?

Analyst: We apparently have *checks notes* running backs. I recommend we draw up some plays that have them run behind blockers and also cut into gaps when possible.

Shane Beamer: But won't they get tired with all of that running to cover those extra yards?

Analyst: It may help if we rotate the carries and allow them to stay fresh that way.

Shane Beamer: This is some wild outside the box thinking. Anything else?

Analyst: Sir, I have 30 pages of recommendations.

Shane Beamer: Woo, really? Ouch. I had planned on taking the players out for froyo soon. I will read them later but give me one more for now.

Analyst: OOOOhkay...The penalties. The actual games have referees, cameras, and everything is well lit.

Shane Beamer: I am not following..

Analyst: Can we tell the players that they can be flagged for celebrations, late hits, obvious holding, and moving before the ball is hiked?

Shane Beamer: Good work man. Bring it in for a big hug.
