I thought we would start a thread where we could post & talk about football recruiting and the players being recruited, committed and ones you feel that should be. I would really like hearing what you think about players the coaches etc. certain recruits you have interest in. Show Videos of the players anything you feel about football recruiting you want to discus.

I just want to see what muschamp manages to recruit till the season start and if they will turn out to be good players

We definitely need to land Trey Blount or another big wide reciver, we need a lot of forces to have a good season

Here is a video highlight of WR Trey Blount. 4 star guy 6'2' 200lbs good size and speed.

College List

  • South Carolina
  • Alabama
  • Florida
  • Georgia

This is what QB Jake Bentley brings to the table for the Gamecocks

The Gamecocks  landed one of the top quarterbacks in the country for the 2017 class, as well as a prospect the class can be built around moving forward.

The junior is rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals, ESPN and 247Sports, and is considered by ESPN the No. 2 quarterback in the country. Has leadership, both on and off the field.

Bentley threw for 2,834 yards and 28 touchdowns with eight interceptions in 13 games this past year at Opelika High in Opelika, Ala., and he has the chance to be a program-changer for South Carolina.

At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Bentley has the ideal size for a quarterback. He also has the arm strength to make all of the throws and is more athletic than he is given credit for, according to his high school coach, Brian Blackmon.

“From a talent standpoint I think he meets all of the wish-list items any coach would want,” Opelika’s coach said. “He’s got a strong arm. He’s got a great football IQ. He’s got a skill set as a quarterback that any coach would want.”

Jake and Trey would be clearly some awesome additions to the team

OrTre Smith will be a good pick too

4* DT-QB (6-0, 211) out of La Jolla, CA. Offered 2/24. Opened recruitment back up after decommitting on 3/11 from Zona.

How would you grade the 2017 recruiting class for 2017 so far? I would give the Gamecock's a B- so far main reason is because of lack of 4 star & 5 star players. Gamecocks are down to 8 scholarships hope to see some big stars to finish the class right now looking at a top 25 class.

Abu Lamin, Qua Lewis and Jamarcus King. All rated the #1 JUCO players at their positions and none of them have made their mark at USC. I know King has only played two games, but he hasn't done much in those 2 games. Again it comes down to evaluations and development. You don't want to start listing the highly ranked players we've landed that have been busts because it truly is depressing. Also like you said King is 2 games in, I won't label him anything after 2 games. My opinion on King so far is he is pretty strong in coverage but needs to get his tackling cleaned up in a huge way.

Our prior staff missed on so many players the last few years that I'm not getting soured on JUCOs due to that. Plus Abu Lamin and Qua Lewis were both forced to be coached by Deke Adams and my opinion on the type of coach he is has been very clear. Just because they're JUCOs doesn't mean they don't need development in the weight room and refinement in technique, let's just say those two aspects have been lacking in this program the last few years and you can't magically turn it around in 1 off-season. Remember before we started missing on tons of players in the HS and JUCO ranks we had JUCO players like Rok Watkins, the Brinkley brothers, the Lindsey brothers, Jonathan Joesph, ect. so it is the same as recruiting HS players, if you have crappy evaluations and development you will get crappy results.

We had bad luck recruiting wise, we thought that we got great players but in the end they did real bad

Abu Lamin has all but disappeared on the field for the Gamecocks.

Also underperforming is Qua Lewis.

Yeah those two have not pan out like we all thought they would. How do you feel in this class who has the best chance to succeed?

Jamyest Williams announces at 2:15, it's either Georgia or South Carolina (rumor is that he is leaning the Gamecocks' direction).
