DL Alex Huntley and Scott getting to know one another

One of the major targets for USC for the 2020 recruiting is in its own backyard. DL Alex Huntley of Hammond has the Gamecocks in his top six along with Georgia, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas and Stanford. Living in Columbia, Huntley is plenty familiar with the Gamecocks and the university. But he’s not all that familiar with new defensive line coach John Scott. However, that’s changing as the recruiting continues.
Huntley said he and Scott continue to communicate with each trying to get to know the other a little more.
“Just getting a relationship with the D-line coach and just talking about, like if I do go there, what would I major in, just stuff like that,” Huntley said. “I love him, he’s a great dude and a great coach. I think he’s a great fit.”
Huntley said they will begin spring practice Wednesday and he’s expecting Scott and other recruiters to come thru. Florida and Tennessee have had recruiters in the school based on what his coaches have told him.
Huntley’s last visit to USC was for the spring game and he’s not sure when he’s returning. He will consider taking one of his official visits with the Gamecocks. He’ll set his officials from the six he’s still considering. He said USC and Georgia have been recruiting him the hardest.
Huntley said his decision will come no earlier than mid-summer and no later than October.
