4 star DL DJ Jones 6'3" 310lbs of East Mississippi JC and Wren High School made his official visit to USC over the weekend. Many members of his family also drove down from the Upstate to join him.

“It was just a reminder of home and getting to go back and see how crazy game day is there,” Jones said. “It gave me a chance to talk to the coaches and the players again. The times I had been there wasn’t game day. I got to experience the fans. I was with coach Adams most of the time. They are going to lose some defensive tackles and I would fit in there perfectly.”

Jones said his player host was Blake McClain and he also spent time with Bryson Allen-Williams, DJ Smith and KC Crosby. And he wrapped up the visit with a sit down meeting with Steve Spurrier.

“He stressed how much they need me,” Jones said. “We talked about that win last night, how big it was for him and the program. I feel a lot better about the university and the football team after this weekend. It opened my eyes really, but nothing dramatic. I’m still committed to Florida State.”

But, Jones put that commitment level at 6 on a scale of 1-10 and would not dismiss the possibility of a flip.

“My commitment is still as firm as it was (before the visit),” he said. “But that (flipping) could happen at anytime. It’s recruiting. Anything can happen.”

Jones plans to be at the Clemson-Florida State game this Saturday for his first game day in Tallahassee. He is also still talking with Clemson.

He has not scheduled any other official visits and he’s expecting USC coaches to visit him in a couple of weeks.
