Whale Branch DL Nyles Pinckney 6'3" 285lbs still has his recruiting as a two team race between Clemson and USC He would still like to visit a couple of out of state schools but at the end of the process, he’s expected to go with either the Tigers or Gamecocks. Friday he was at Clemson for the All-In Cookout, and this Friday he will be at USC for the all-in the pool bash.

“It was great being around coaches,” Pinckney said of the Clemson visit. “We really didn’t talk about football and it felt good not to talk about football for once. It felt good just getting to know the coaches as people, and their families, and them getting to know my family and just building a personal connection. Whenever I go up there I always have a home feel, especially at the cookout, having them come up to me and greet me and everything else.”

Pinckney last visited USC for a junior day in March and will be looking for that same comfort feeling he has at Clemson.

“Mostly get to know more about the coaches and get that personal feel,” Pinckney said. “They are talking about giving me a visit to the business part because that’s what I’m planning on majoring in. That’s mostly it, get to know the coaches better and them getting to know me better.”

Pinckney said he also wants to visit Alabama, Georgia and Georgia Tech this summer. He’d like to make a decision by September and if not, by the end of his season.

The Internet speculation has had Pinckney as favoring Clemson but the big defensive tackle is not in total agreement.

“I wouldn’t say that,” Pinckney said. “I was leaning towards staying in state, looking at both schools kind of evenly, but I’m going to also lean out of state and see what else I can get out of them. The deciding factor is going to be a talk between me and my parents, and pray about it, and just leaning how I feel where I can be comfortable for four years.”
