DL Tyrion Ingram-Dawkin feels wanted by Gamecocks

Hammond School DE Jordan Burch wasn’t the only big-time, in-state defensive lineman to visit USC over the weekend. While Burch is the state’s top player for 2020 and was in for an official visit, Gaffney DL Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins 6'5 265lbs is one of the top players in the 2021 class, and he was in for an unofficial visit.
“It was a great atmosphere,” Ingram-Dawkins said. “The moment I stepped in, it was just great. The coaches, seeing the school and just seeing how it is. Great facilities. I know every school is going to have great facilities. But South Carolina came with good coaches and they just welcomed me home, like I was at home the moment I came in. That alone made it great.”
Ingram-Dawkins spent a lot of time with Gamecock head coach Will Muschamp and defensive line coach John Scott, and he got a detailed accounting of their plans for him.
“They were just showing me the defense that they run and telling me how I would fit in with my play style, where I would be lining up and how I would be rushing the quarterback and stuff,” he said. “He (Muschamp) was telling me that they like me and I’m a big priority for the program.”
This was Ingram’Dawkins second unofficial visit to USC. He’s also been to Clemson and Virginia Tech. Besides USC and Virginia Tech, the offers include Syracuse, West Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and Coastal Carolina. He’s a ways off from getting to a list of favorites.
“I’m not really focused on narrowing schools down right now,” Ingram-Dawkins said. “I’m not leaning anywhere right now. It’s too early right now. I’m just experiencing the process and just going thru it and go to as many places as I can to see what really fits me and where I can be successful.”
Ingram-Dawkins said he’ll return to USC in the spring, and his other upcoming visits will be with those schools recruiting him the hardest, like Tennessee, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Michigan.
Last season Ingram-Dawkins had 70 tackles with 17 tackles for loss and 8 sacks. 247Sports ranks him as the #5 prospect in the state and the #27 defensive tackle in the country.
