I turned the poop show off near the end of halftime because I felt Beamer's dumbazz decision not to kick the FG was going to cost us the game because the offense just wasn't there with Doty at QB.  Then I turned it back on late in the 3rd quarter and felt I was right.

Doty has looked great at times, but the offense just seems more at ease and focused with Zeb under center.

Beamer was going to have turn in his Gamecock man card if he had lost to a bad Vandy team at Homecoming.

Doty is never going to fully heal if he has to play all the time and the offense plays better with Zeb under center.

Satt needs to pull his head out of his azz and give Noland more PT or he can go coach somewhere else.

Doty just ain't it. I hope some stud high school QB see's this and wants to start for an SEC team as a true freshman.

Will be interesting to see how Zeb does this weekend.  Will the line step up for him.  He drops back more than Doty,  not sure about getting left or right out of the pocket.  Definitely more accurate.  Pass to Leggett was on the money.  Doty offers little in run ability, he needs to run like Corral, no sliding take a hit.  RBs need to start in rhythm.  D needs to play tight.  Hope Zeb balls it!

I keep seeing people say he is more accurate, but his completion percentage is lower than Doty so far this year.  Obviously a smaller body of work as Luke has had many more pass attempts, but concerning considering most of the defenses he was passing against were early on the year and not SEC teams.

Stats can be deceiving.  Zeb doesn't have those long pass overthrows like Doty.  And the 3 he missed on at the end were certainly more catchable.   Not sure about his scrambling out of the pocket and throwing on the run.

Just rewatched the last series with Zeb.  Doty could not have handled that pressure of the moment.  Zeb had no doubt.  Is this the kind of pressure he will see D wise from A&M?  No.  But feel more confident with him back there, we shall see.

Let's hope he does well. His lack of mobility will probably be a big issue against that blitzing A & M defense.  If the game goes the way I hope it does not everyone will be screaming for Gauthier, which by the way, he is bigger than I thought he was.

A drop back passer vs A&Ms line vs our OLine could be scary.

Gotta get the ball out quick or run screens.

But right now Zeb gives us the best chance, and Doty isn’t mobile. So gotta give to the hot hand.

I have to agree.  Doty has thrown some nice balls at times, but he was horrible on Saturday.  I have wanted to use this year to get him experience, but if he's hurt, it's just making the problem worse.  We need to play Zeb, and hope someone else learns how to play QB before next year.  I know Vandy wan't rushing as many men, but once Zeb came in, suddenly the O-line wasn't letting guys through.

It was a tale of 2 halfs for sure.  1st half I thought he played pretty well.  Second half not good at all. I agree if he is not healthy put him on the shelf and let someone or multiple others have a shot.  At this point we really have nothing to lose by seeing what we have.

They both compete for the starting job, but I believe Noland shows leadership and tends to more effectively calm guys down than Doty.  Doty is pretty high energy, but sometimes you need to relax.

I believe that's one of the reasons Shane brought him in here.

It obviously works, too, and they play better with Noland under center.  My WatchESPN froze up right after we missed the first down attempt instead of going for the FG.  The look of disgust on the faces of our guys on the sideline shot that froze up was very noticeable to me and one of the reasons I didn't listen to much of the 3rd quarter on the radio.

I agree with others that we should go with the hot hand.  If one is struggling, bring a fresh body in and see what they can do.

Absolutely. Zeb has the experience and the teams seems to play better with him. Doty is the future and maybe just needs more time to heal his foot, learn the offense, and get experience. I know he played some last year, but different staff and a team that had given up. He has maybe 5-6 starts at this point? - he might as well be a freshman.

At this point our goal should be to get to 6 wins and make a bowl game. From what we saw yesterday, Zeb is our best chance. Maybe things will change again if Doty's foot heals, or a light comes on with the playbook, etc.

Luke threw a ton of beautiful balls and IMHO had his best half of the season in the first half last week ... not his fault the third and fourth drives of the half both started inside our own 5 because of the punt and the turnover, IIRC, which is really just survival mode. He did miss the long shot to Vann, but that happens. The second half he didn't seem the same to me. If his foot was bothering him, that would make sense.

Either way, I think Zeb gives us at least as good a shot as a Luke who can't really run, as that was half of his allure as a player.

The tape on Doty so far is he puts up a lot of yardage, but can't get the TDs for one reason or another.

I remember Mike Davis once saying that Thompson was good about reminding him and others what they needed to do in the called play.

It may just be something as simple as that, but damned near impossible if a QB is not up to speed on the playbook like he should be.

Noland has probably seen variations of plays very similar to what we are running now because he has simply has more experience than everyone else in the QB room right now.

Doty just simply isn’t the best option at QB. He was when Zeb was hurt. He has one ugly win against Troy to show for 8 career games where he played the majority of the snaps. Right now Zeb gives us the best chance to win now. We need wins now to help with recruiting. I saw us at 4 wins in the preseason. We could get 5-6 if we stick with Zeb. Doty and it’s 4-8 guaranteed. It still may happen with Zeb, but the team plays much better with him under center. Gamecocks need to hit the portal hard and get an SEC QB. Hopefully, 4 star commit Braden Davis can learn enough to gain important playing time. Just got to get an SEC QB here. like fast, like yesterday not fast enough.

I would guess Doty's foot is still injured which would affect mobility and throwing.  While I really hope he heals and gets better, I am not overly impressed with Doty.  I think he can be a serviceable QB, but I never see him being a stud at QB.  Even without his hurt foot last year, I just never saw the elusiveness I expect from a mobile QB.
