Barker camped at South Carolina today and picked up his first scholarship offer from the Gamecocks.
“South Carolina just offered me scholarship number six,” said Barker.
Barker was impressed with the campus, facilities and the coaching staff in Columbia.
“I loved the campus. It was the most beautiful one I’ve seen yet. They’re renovating everything and building new facilities which would be done right when I get there. So that’s awesome.
“I also really like Coach Mangus. He was very down to Earth and I related to him very well,” he said.
The Old Ball Coach is also a big draw, especially for quarterbacks. Barker thinks highly of Steve Spurrier.
“First off, he won a Heisman Trophy at that position, so he knows what he’s talking about. Secondly he has coached and mentored some great ones. I have a lot of respect for him. He’s a great coach,” continued Barker.
Barker also felt like South Carolina would be a good fit academically.
“I also want to major in something business related. And they have a top 25 business school. That is very intriguing.” link: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1197453.html
