4 star Defensive tackle Nyles Pinckney 6-foot-3, 285-pounder (Seabrook, S.C./Whale Branch) said he has high interest in Florida State, Clemson, Miami, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Pinckney has eight offers including verbal tenders from all five of those programs.

Pinckney said what he likes about each of those top contenders.

Miami: “I was surprised (when they offered). They hadn’t contacted me. (Hurricanes defensive line) coach Jethro Franklin shows a lot of interest in me. He told me I would be a great fit there. I’d have a great opportunity there. They have a good defense. I think I could be good in their defense.”

South Carolina: “Not doing so well this year. Defensively, they need some help. I feel like I could help them. Plus I really like (Gamecocks defensive line) coach Deke Adams.”

North Carolina: “I like coach (Larry) Fedora’s intensity (and) how he treats his players. How he’s wide open and they play hard.”

Clemson: “Me, my mom and dad like the family feel, Christianity and how they want to make you a better man more than a football player.”

Florida State: “Yes I’m very big on the Seminoles still. I’ve always liked them since I’ve been younger. Getting that offer was a dream come true.”

The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder said he’s talked to North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Clemson and Florida State since September 1.

He’s planning to visit South Carolina Saturday as the Gamecocks host Tennessee.

This spring, Pinckney hopes to visit Miami, Florida State and Georgia.

He’s hoping to land an offer from Alabama.

“Just to prove I can get an offer from them,” Pinckney said of Alabama. “I really like their team.”
