While many Gamecock fans anxiously awaited the start of Spring Practice so they could get a glimpse of QB Tanner McEvoy, it is another backup QB who seems to have stolen the limelight.
Dylan Thompson, thrust into the backup role to Connor Shaw last fall, seems to have taken full advantage of his opportunity. Thus far in Spring Practice, Thompson has show a complete understanding of Head Coach Steve Spurrier's offense. Combine that with the natural athletic ability to make plays, it seems Thompson has cemented his status as the #2 guy heading into Summer workouts. Whereas last Fall fans would cringe at the thought of Shaw getting hurt, this year's offense seems to be in good hands. Thompson is making quick reads, checking down to the right guy and putting the ball in a place where the receiver can make a play.
Dylan Thompson is just one player fans should watch as we head into the Spring Game April 14th.
