East Carolina coach Ruffin McNeill isn’t putting much stock in this talk about USC quarterback Connor Shaw not playing this week. He doesn’t expect a sore shoulder to keep the Shaw off the field against the Pirates.
“Connor Shaw will be playing, “McNeill said. He’s a football player, a coach’s kid.”
Shaw hasn’t practiced this week because of the shoulder injury he suffered in the first half against Vanderbilt. Dylan Thompson and Seth Strickland are getting more work with Thompson expected to get the nod if Shaw can’t play. Steve Spurrier said his game plan won’t change regardless of who the quarterback is and McNeill says the film backs up the HBC’s claim.
“They don’t change their offense with either quarterback,” McNeill said. They play three quarterbacks and I’ve seen three quarterbacks on film and they don’t change their offense.”
USC and East Carolina will play at 12:21 Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.
